‘Double Vision’ – This is how you paint on a tropical island. I paint whenever I have free time so I took my paints and small canvases to a short holiday on Heron Island. This island is one of the most stunning places on earth. There is no wi-fi or television on the island so this artwork was painted near the verandah of my hut close to noisy seagulls and mutton birds. I had to stay inside away from the birds or they would have inspected my paints! The colours are bright and tropical, like the Island. When I look at this painting, I can still smell the organic odour left by the birds! I based it on a digitally manipulated photograph of a bunch of flowers. I used acrylic and water-based oil paint on canvas. The painting is varnished and ready to hang.
