‘Binna Burra’ – I have always felt invigorated by the beauty of nature. Binna Burra which is situated in the Lamington National Park in the Gold Coast hinterland, is one of my favourite places in the world. This painting was inspired by one of the walks in the rainforest. At one point, I sat on a step to have a rest. I was alone and every sound I heard was natural and non-man made. I took a photograph and made this little painting when I returned to Toowoomba. I was concentrating on emulating the special light of the rainforest and the textured nature of the leaves. It is painted using water-based oil paint on canvas, varnished and ready to hang.
